If you are flying for the first time in Stubaital, please obtain the ‘Fly-Park briefing map’ from the flight school at Parafly before commencing any flying activities. ELFER take off : Elevation 1,830m - 2,080m An ideal meadow take off area with a Top to Bottom of 830m - 1.080m. It takes an East, North and Northwest wind direction. Co-ordinates: 47° 05’ 52” N 11° 19’ 25” E. Other information:- Soaring and thermaling flight conditions occur nearly daily in the summer. Initial flight path - Fly between the cable car route and the right slope edge (little hill called Hennenbichl – see your Fly-Park briefing map). This slope edge is not to be flown over into the Pinnistal valley as there is a strong nozzle effect / compression, with some turbulence, which can make it almost impossible to fly back out. KREUTZJOCK (Schlick2000 in Fulpmes) take off : Elevation 2,130m Stubai Cup take off area with a Top to Bottom of 1.230m. It takes a South, Southeast and a light North and Northwest wind direction. Co-ordinates: 47° 09’ 18” N 11° 18’ 09” E. Other information:- A perfect thermal flight site for both local and cross county flights in the winter and summer. The Paraglider’s take off is at 2,170m directly under the mountain station. Initial flight path - Please vacate the starting area soon after your start. Do not block the take off point while soaring back and forth! For Hang Gliders there is a purpose built ramp directly beside the terrace of the mountain restaurant. Pay attention to the strong valley winds (up to 20-30 km/h) Landing areas / fields Neustift: Large 970m and simple, ideal for flying students and pilots with less experience. Co-ordinates: 47° 06’ 79” N 11° 18’ 95” E. Fulpmes: Large 973m and simple, between Fulpmes and Medraz by the old federal highway – see map or ask local pilots. Co-ordinates: 47° 08’ 87” N 11° 20’ 74” E. Tandem flights are possible in summer when arranged with the flight school, and with a valid tandem license. Use the Elfer take off in the summer : above the fence (underneath the fence only if there is no student pilot training course in session). Each flying student has conspicuous a wind tag / streamer attached to their harnesses. Please do not cross the Pinnistal valley (see your Fly-Park briefing map) in May and June close to the ground or slope. The Chamois (dark haired goat like animal with sharp horns – protected species) are caring for their offspring and should not be disturbed or frightened. We hope you understand and thank you for your co-operation. If you fly above the lift systems ensure you keep a minimum distance / separation of 50 meters. Acrobatic flights are discouraged / not encouraged to avoid further accidents and collisions. Speed gliders are forbiden within the region (Stubai Fly Park Elfer and Schlick) and are not to be flown or used. An orange cross on the landing field indicates that all flights are forbidden!! This may be due to bad weather, helicopter rescues, etc. Do not fly over the local town centers as the strong valley winds will cause you problems and put others in danger. Landing and landing preparation :- Plan your landing in plenty of time. We fly left hand circuits. Do not practice any maneuvers or ground handling in the landing field - use the packing areas provided. Clear the landing field as soon as you have landed paying careful attention to others that may be about to land. Landing outside the designated landing fields - a duty of 5 euros payable at the Flight School (for the farmers), please be honest and pay accordingly. Please pack your gliders only at the packing area in Neustift and at the roadside edge in Fulpmes. Just like at home – If in any doubt about anything, please ask a local pilot, they will do their very best to help you and it is very likely they will speak English.
